That's pretty much what I am getting at with their virtual severs (it doesn't appear to be the case with a lot of the virtual servers and I don't know why that is). I assume you just want the Indian ones to show India without leaking the location and you don't care if it's physically located in India or not, right? I don't care where the Indian server is located, just as long as it shows the streaming service or whatever I'm using that it's located in India. ![]() Now I haven't tried all my streaming services with all the virtual servers, but more often than not, it seems they're not showing the right location (like in your case). When using a virtual location, a lot of the time, the right country isn't detected. ![]() ![]() I'm in the same boat as you, as I use Surfshark for streaming services that I've paid for to be able to watch geo-restricted content. No idea why people are going on about the government etc. I understood exactly what you were saying. I also use Surfshark for streaming geo-restricted content, so I may as well ask as I get similar issues to the OP when using virtual servers - If using a virtual server, why do I (a lot of the time) see the location of the server not being in the country it's intended for? What is the point of the virtual server if it doesn't show you're in that country? From what I remember, hardly any of the virtual servers ever worked for me when I was trying to stream something from that country (I won't say this is 100% of the time as I haven't tried streaming every service I have with the virtual servers, just on the ones I have tried, the virtual server usually hasn't worked). If other VPNs are able to do it, shouldn't you guys look into getting this fixed for him? Even if it's leaking and showing a different country (I am guessing this is why it doesn't work for him), are you not able to try and get it to work with Hotstar/Disney+? The OP just wants Disney+/Hotstar to work with Surfshark. Why not warn the user that logs would be kept if they use that particular server and ask them if they still want to continue using the Indian physical server?Īs things stand, Bluntly put the Surfshark subscription continues to be a massive waste for Indian VPN needs. I don't know the possible solution for this problem, but maybe you can use a VPN server based in India? At some level, anyways SurfShark has started keeping logs and deleting them at 15 mins. I have NEVER had the full experience with Hotstar on Surfshark.Ībove issue with Youtube/Google, I brought it to the notice of customer care agents long back but I can still see the issue months down the line. Both of the above issues, I have faced before. Why should we be surprised that Hotstar also doesn't work most of the time then?Īs I post this, yet again Hotstar is not working on my android phone at all and, on the Chrome extension live streaming of sports is not working on Hotstar. In my experience, there is ALWAYS some or the other issue with Hotstar. This means Google detects the location of the underlying physical server. (proof is attached in the screenshots, In India, it should be Youtube IN.) ![]() Now I know based on speaking to the customer care agents that this is where the physical servers are present for the Indian Virtual servers. They are NL(Netherlands), GB(Great Britain), or BD(Bangladesh). The issue at hand is when I connect to an Indian location on Surfshark, Google(on the search and youtube) detects either of the three locations based on the Indian VPN options on Surfshark. I mentioned this in another post (and I have spoken about this issue with the customer care agent some months back) adding it here for more visibility. ![]() |
